2025 End of Season Migration Waterfowl Update
The 2025 Saskatchewan waterfowl hunting season has officially wrapped up here at Prairie Rose Outfitters, and what a run it was. From the first week of September right through to the end of October, the skies over the prairies stayed alive with birds and action-packed hunts nearly every morning.

Start to Finish
The season kicked off hot – both in weather and in bird numbers. From day one, the migration in the area was electric, and it never slowed down. The duck hunting in Saskatchewan stayed phenomenal from the early days of September through the final week of October. Every field seemed to hold new flocks, and the quality of the hunts reflected it- consistent limits, happy hunters, and plenty of smiles around camp.
Goose Numbers That Didn’t Disappoint
September brought incredible numbers of Canada Geese and Specklebellies, and as October rolled in, the big white birds followed. The Snow Geese migration arrived in impressive waves, and our groups made the most of every opportunity. It was one of those rare seasons where both ducks and geese showed up strong, making for an unforgettable mix of variety and volume.
Weather and Migration Patterns
Mother Nature threw us a bit of a curveball this fall. Warmer temperatures through late September slowed the push of the Dark Geese, delaying their arrival by two weeks. Usually, they roll in strong by the end of September, but this year, it wasn’t until the second week of October that we really started to see them stack up. Once they did, the action was steady and memorable- a great reminder that patience always pays off in waterfowling.
Wrapping Up on a High Note
We could have hunted another week or two, but as always, we choose to close the season on the safe side. Even in those final days, the hunting stayed hot, the blinds stayed busy, and the birds kept flying. Between the consistent duck limits and outstanding goose hunts, Prairie Rose Outfitters wrapped up one of the most productive and exciting guided bird hunting seasons in Saskatchewan to date.
